This project focused on surface and structure and began with an in-depth analysis of the site. My work focused on particular surfaces that I feel spoke the loudest as being elements that were important to the overall atmosphere of Testing Grounds. To take away any of these elements, these surfaces, would change the atmosphere of this site completely. The analysis and experimentation phase saw an extraction of surface markings and textures using clay, and inserting contrasting material into the site using copper sheet. The intention was to capture small sections of each surface. Fragments of the site.
The resolved project provides a series of small encounters for the visitors and passers by of Testing Grounds in the hopes that it would help them to capture these small fragments of the site. Created was a series of small structures for the site that, when stumbled across, would magnify and highlight, or mirror and frame each of the surfaces chosen within the site.
