A process of marrying two found objects from two separate locations into a single piece of furniture. The design intent was to take the structure and manipulate it, highlighting the surface embellishment by removing the structural integrity of the table legs.By repeating the forms in resin I was attempting to nurture and expand on it as an adorned object, creating ‘beads’ to be ‘strung’ on the structural steel element of the new table.
This project has served to breathe new life into something old and no longer desired. It was my intention to not only restore my objects but to reinvent them. To give them a new meaning and purpose. In leaving a trace of it’s original form, I hope that the design creates a curiosity in the viewers and the users of this table that encourages them to think differently about the objects they use and encounter in their everyday lives.
